The second alarm of 8:30 had also gone unnoticed and Shubha was
still in her bed. Ma’s voice jolted her out.
“Oh God! I’m late for my music class…”
But why was she not rushing???
Silently and slowly she picked up her blue towel and went for bath. When
she came out she was wearing a yellow kurti
with bottle green salwar. Her wet golden brown hair were drooping on
her shoulders. She was truly alive for a new day.
Oh! but why is she wearing one white and one black footwear???
For Shubha all colours are same - Black!!!

This piece of fiction is in response to two prompts
How sad! With all the colors why did you have to make everything 'black'
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, its a great piece.
This is sad if all the colours are black for her. Poor girl. Nice take on the prompt.
ReplyDeleteFor her all colours are black. I didn't see that coming. I thought it is going to have some funny climax. It wasn't. :(
ReplyDeleteBut a very good piece. :)
Sad for Shubha but a wonderful twist, never expected that!
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautifully started and wonderfully ended...a very nice post :)
ReplyDeleteI liked the way you went about the post. Loved the ending specially? But is this for real? Are some people blind towards all colors?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jini ...Basically Shubha is blind so she only sees black
DeleteNicely written but intriguing. It makes me feel sad but happy that despite she cannot see, she is truly alive.
ReplyDeleteVIBGYOR make our life so beautiful isn't it. It is a pity when we cannot sense them. Great post.
ReplyDeleteSo sad that all colors are black...still the bath brings her to life as only a splash of water can. Brilliantly written. Love the twists you incorporated.
ReplyDeletesad but makes one ponder on our gift of vision.
ReplyDeleteHmm I dint realise taht she was blind - maybe if you had added that somehwere in the end the story would hv had tht wow effect.
ReplyDeleteErr jus said cause I firmly think u had such a wow story here n just tht extra line would hv made a huge diff
yes even I feel that I could not bring it out clearly ...Thanks for the feedback Meena..
DeleteMina i mean :)
DeleteA very emotional story, especially the ending!
ReplyDeleteWhy???Such a sad turn :(
ReplyDeleteNice post, but have to agree with some of the comments, maybe it didn't have to be such a sad ending, that's all :D
ReplyDeletenice post :) congrats on the wow badge :)
ReplyDeleteits a very touchy post. for a person who cannot understand of feel colors is something very saddening.
ReplyDeleteOh, Shiva. So sad. I seem to be reading a lot of sad posts today! My heart goes out to her...I am colorblind. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI loved the take. The end suddenly jolted me to a different world. And how life can be mean.
